Christmas Day lunch costs £49.99 to £110 at six pubs around Whitley Bay, Seaton Sluice and Tynemouth, and December festive menus start at £16.95: 2026 prices.
For Christmas Day near Whitley Bay, the menus most people will find are at the Beacon on Earsdon Road (£71.95 a head), the Delaval Arms at Old Hartley (£110, and the pub says it is already 80% sold out) and Toby Carvery Shiremoor (£69.99). The lowest Christmas Day price on this list is £49.99 for four courses at the Gunner in Tynemouth. Every entry was checked against the venue’s own site on 1 November 2026.
We have not eaten at any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry gives the price on the venue’s own 2026 Christmas menu, what it includes, and what the venue says about deposits and booking, plus its Food Standards Agency (FSA) hygiene rating. Prices are per person and exclude any service charge unless we say otherwise. Christmas Day 2026 is a Friday.
Spanish City is not open for dining on Christmas Day this year: its brochure runs from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day, so Trenchers appears below for its December festive menu. The Turks Head on Front Street, Tynemouth, opens on Christmas Day for drinks only, according to Greene King’s page for the pub.
Christmas Day: Whitley Bay and Monkseaton
1. The Beacon, Earsdon Road
The Beacon is an Ember Inns pub on Earsdon Road at the western edge of Whitley Bay. Its Christmas page offers “a truly special Christmas Day” of three courses for £71.95 for adults and £35.95 for children.
A £10 deposit is taken for every guest when you book, and Ember asks for full payment and pre-orders by 1 December; deposits are non-refundable within 14 days of the date. Before Christmas the festive set menu is two courses for £22.99 (children £9.99, £5 deposit), and the pub runs Breakfast with Santa at £12.99 a person.
On Boxing Day the three-course menu is £32.50 for adults and £11.99 for children.

2. Toby Carvery Shiremoor, Northumberland Park
The Toby Carvery at Northumberland Park, Backworth, is the carvery option for the North Tyneside side of Whitley Bay. Its Christmas Day menu is £69.99, with “our famous carvery at the heart of it”, served with festive trimmings.
On other December days the festive menu starts at £14.79 Monday to Friday, £16.79 on Saturdays and £19.79 on Sundays. Toby’s page says a deposit may be required when you book and links to its deposit policy; it publishes no separate children’s Christmas Day price on the Shiremoor page.

Christmas Day: Seaton Sluice and Old Hartley
3. The Delaval Arms, Old Hartley
The Delaval Arms stands on the coast road at Old Hartley, just over the Northumberland border from Whitley Bay. The pub says Historic England records it as a Grade II listed, mid 18th century building, and that it was included in The Telegraph’s pub guides in 2025 and 2026.
The Christmas Day menu is £110 a head, with food served from 12 noon to 4pm. Starters include seared scallops with Stornoway black pudding and a pressed duck and ham hock terrine; mains are roast turkey crown with braised leg, roast sirloin of beef, herb-crusted cod loin or a wild mushroom and celeriac Wellington.
The Young Ones menu for under 10s is £50. Bookings are by phone or email only, and on 1 November the pub’s Christmas page said Christmas Day was 80% sold out.
A Christmas Fayre menu runs Monday to Saturday through December, with details still to come.

4. The Astley Arms, Seaton Sluice
The Astley Arms is a Stonehouse pub on Links Road in Seaton Sluice. Its Christmas Day menu is “available from just £62.99 per adult”, which Stonehouse describes as a traditional menu “packed with festive favourites”.
The pub also lists a Christmas Day takeaway and Christmas party bookings. Stonehouse says a deposit may be required at the time of booking and links to its deposit policy; the Astley Arms page gives no children’s Christmas Day price.

5. The Gunner, Tynemouth
The Gunner is a Greene King pub on Trevor Terrace, a few minutes from Tynemouth Metro (Greene King lists it under North Shields). Its Christmas Day offer is four courses for £49.99, the lowest Christmas Day price on this list, and the menu takes in a smoked salmon and king prawn cocktail and “a proper hand-carved turkey dinner with all the trimmings”.
Greene King’s booking terms ask for a £10 deposit for each adult and £10 for each child to secure a Christmas Day table.

6. Miller & Carter Tynemouth, Preston North Road
Miller & Carter Tynemouth is the steakhouse chain’s restaurant on Preston North Road, between North Shields and Tynemouth. Its Christmas Day menu is described as a “luxurious Christmas Day menu” at £109.95 a head.
The restaurant’s page lists a smoked salmon and prawn cocktail to start, mains including a 10oz surf and turf filet mignon, pan-fried duck and a turkey paupiette, and desserts including a classic Christmas pudding and a Miller & Carter yule log for one. The Young Guest menu for children 12 and under is from £49.95, and the restaurant says young guests get a complimentary J20.

7. Hinnies, East Parade
Hinnies is an independent restaurant on East Parade, on the Whitley Bay seafront. Its Christmas menu runs at lunch and dinner, Tuesday to Saturday, from 1 to 31 December 2026: two courses £22 or three £28 at lunch, and two courses £27 or three £33 at dinner, each with a mince pie.
Dishes include a North Shields fishcake, stuffed turkey with roasties and a pig in blanket, pan haggerty with a poached egg, and a chestnut, mushroom and feta Wellington. A discretionary 10% service charge is added for parties of 10 or more.
Hinnies does not list a Christmas Day service.

8. Trenchers, Spanish City
Trenchers is the restaurant under the Spanish City dome, and Spanish City’s Christmas brochure calls it “award-winning”. The festive set menu is two courses for £27.50 or three for £32.50, available all day, every day from 18 November to 24 December, and the brochure says Trenchers seats groups of 2 to 100 beside the 30ft Christmas tree under the dome.
Parties of 15 or more pay a £10 a head deposit and pre-order. On Boxing Day and New Year’s Day the 1910 Restaurant upstairs serves lunch at £43 for two courses or £49 for three, 12pm to 4pm.

9. The Grand Hotel, Tynemouth
The Grand Hotel on Grand Parade overlooks Longsands at Tynemouth. Its Christmas 2026 page lists dining on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, both at £31.50 for two courses or £45 for three.
The Boxing Day menu includes a king prawn cocktail, duck liver and orange pâté, Northumbrian turkey with Yorkshire pudding and pigs in blankets, roast topside of beef, pan-roast cod and a festive squash Wellington. The page does not list a Christmas Day lunch for non-residents; ask the hotel’s reservations team.

10. The Monkseaton Arms, Front Street
The Monkseaton Arms is a pub on Front Street in Monkseaton village. Its festive set menu is two courses for £16.95 or three for £19.95, the lowest festive price on this list, and a festive buffet is available for groups.
Both need a £5 a head deposit. The pub says it is open on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, and shows live sport over the holiday; it does not list a Christmas Day meal.

How we chose
We started from the pubs, hotels and restaurants within a few miles of Whitley Bay that publish a 2026 Christmas menu with a price on their own website, and checked each one on 1 November 2026. Every entry has a Food Standards Agency hygiene rating of 4 or 5. We left out places whose Christmas pages still showed last year’s menu or no price, and those open on Christmas Day for drinks only. Prices change and Christmas Day tables sell out, so confirm with the venue before you book.
