The Playhouse has a show almost every night this week, Dom Joly is in town on Sunday 11 October, and the biggest free night of the autumn is the council’s fireworks display on The Links on Sunday 1 November. In between come Ann Cleeves in North Shields, half term from 24 October with the Tynemouth pumpkin trail, and Whitley Bay Musical Theatre Company’s We Will Rock You.

  • Tony as Robbie Williams, Friday 2 October, 6.30pm, The Greenhouse, Tynemouth Park, Grand Parade, NE30 4JL. A Robbie Williams tribute night in the park’s cafe bar, back after earlier dates. Tickets £20. (Tynemouth Park)
  • Genesis Connected, Saturday 3 October, 7.30pm, Playhouse Whitley Bay, Marine Avenue, NE26 1LZ. Genesis, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel and Mike and the Mechanics songs, with a frontman who also drums for the double-drum numbers. (Playhouse Whitley Bay)
  • Heritage train rides, Sunday 4 October, then Sundays 11, 18 and 25 October and Thursday 29 October, Stephenson Steam Railway, Middle Engine Lane, NE29 8DX. A four-mile return trip of about 35 to 40 minutes in a 1950s carriage, run by volunteers and subject to availability. The museum is open 11am to 4pm. Adults £11, or £9 without the optional donation; concessions £9 or £7; children aged four and under free. (Stephenson Steam Railway)
  • Whitley Warriors v Kirkcaldy Kestrels, Sunday 4 October, 5pm, Whitley Bay Ice Rink, Hillheads Road, NE25 8HP. Scottish National League ice hockey, the Warriors’ next home game. The club says all ticket types are sold on the door. (Whitley Warriors)

  • Halloween Maze Pumpkin Trail, Saturday 24 to Saturday 31 October, 9.30am to 4.30pm, entry every 30 minutes, Tynemouth Park, Grand Parade, NE30 4JL. A trail through the maze to a pumpkin patch, with a pumpkin and a goodie bag for each child.   • North Tyneside Fireworks Display, Sunday 1 November, 6pm to 7.30pm, The Links, NE26 1TQ. Fairground rides and refreshments from 6pm, fireworks at 7pm for about 15 minutes. Free, no ticket.   • Bonfire Night Dinner in 1910 and The Champagne Bar, Sunday 1 November, arrival 6.30pm, sit down 7pm, Spanish City, Spanish City Plaza, NE26 1BG. Dinner overlooking The Links, with canapes during the display and the meal served after it. Spanish City does not guarantee a window seat. £50 a head, paid in full on booking. (Spanish City)

  • Tynemouth Market, every Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 3.30pm, Tynemouth Station, Station Terrace, NE30 4RE. Stalls and street food inside the Metro station. Dogs are allowed and there is paid parking on the west side of the station. (Tynemouth Markets)

The Playhouse and Spanish City are both a few minutes’ walk from Whitley Bay Metro station, and Tynemouth Market is inside Tynemouth station itself.
