The Creedence Clearwater Review, the tribute band that played Playhouse Whitley Bay last September, is coming back on Saturday 24 October 2026, and the venue has it down for a 7.30pm start.
The band’s booking agency, Red River Artists, sent the announcement to Whitley Bay News, billing the night as the Cosmo’s Factory Tour after the 1970 Creedence Clearwater Revival album. The Playhouse’s own event listing confirms the date and the time, and describes the show as a return: “Following their phenomenal Playhouse debut in 2025, this incredible tribute to Creedance Clearwater Revival return to Whitley Bay in 2026.” That debut was on Thursday 18 September 2025, and the venue’s page for it now carries the line that tickets are no longer available because the event has passed.
Lead singer and guitarist Dale Taylor, quoted in the announcement, put the show’s draw down to the songs outlasting everyone who made them:
It’s amazing how these songs continue to bring people together. With the original CCR band having broken up over 50 years ago and not performing professionally together since, wherever we play, you still see audiences of all ages singing along to every chorus, and that’s a testament to just how timeless Creedence Clearwater Revival’s music really is.
What they play
The announcement lists Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Fortunate Son, Have You Ever Seen The Rain, Who’ll Stop The Rain and Down On The Corner. The Playhouse listing adds Run Through The Jungle, and singles out Who’ll Stop The Rain as one of the Cosmo’s Factory tracks in the set.
Beyond the songs, the venue’s description is specific about how the night is staged: “vintage instruments and 60s-inspired outfits”, with “audience participation, rousing sing-alongs, and captivating stories that bring CCR’s legacy to life”. The same listing says the band has sold out venues across the UK and Europe and played the VIP lounge at The O2 in London in 2018 for guests of John Fogerty, the original band’s singer, and calls the group “the UK’s #1 tribute to CCR”. That billing comes from the venue and the promoter rather than from us, and the band’s own website trades under the fuller name Bad Moon Rising: The Creedence Clearwater Review, which is why the Playhouse page sits at a bad-moon-rising address.
Times, tickets and the rules of the room
The Playhouse publishes a full running order for the night, which is more than most listings give you:
- Show start 7.30pm, interval 8.30pm, second half 8.50pm, finish around 9.50pm.
- Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult.
- No ticket prices appear on the event page. They show at the booking stage, and the venue notes that a booking fee applies on top.
- The Suite Experience is sold separately: a pre-show drink in the lounge with reserved seating in Sea View Corner, a cheese and meat selection, and premium seats in the executive suite. The suite holds ten, so unless you buy all ten seats you share with other ticket holders, and the venue warns that reaching it means a short flight of stairs.
That last point is worth reading twice if stairs are a problem: the suite is the only part of the offer with a published access caveat, and the rest of the seating plan is on the venue’s own seating and accessibility pages.
What it means for you
- It lands on the first Saturday of half term. North Tyneside schools break up on Friday 23 October, so the show falls at the start of the half term week rather than on a school night. Expect the town to be busier than a normal October Saturday.
- It is the second tribute night at the Playhouse that weekend. The venue’s listings have 80s Mania in on Friday 23 October, the night before.
- Book through the venue. The event page carries the only official booking route. No price is published until the booking stage.
