Tynemouth Priory goes weekends-only from 2 November, 10am to 4pm, with extra days at New Year and February half term. Off-peak adult £7.65 booked ahead.
Tynemouth Priory and Castle stays open every day until the end of October half term, then switches to weekends only, 10am to 4pm, from Monday 2 November. Over Christmas it opens on Sunday 27 December, Monday 28 December and from New Year’s Day to Sunday 3 January, and it opens daily again for February half term, 15 to 21 February 2027.

Ticket prices for winter visits
English Heritage prices change by day. Weekdays until 1 November are off-peak and weekends are standard; from 2 November every open day, including Christmas and New Year, is off-peak.

These are the prices without the optional donation. English Heritage members get in free. To get the advance price you have to book online by midnight the day before; tickets are valid all day.
Part of the priory is shut. English Heritage says the Choir, Chapel and Presbytery areas are closed for essential maintenance, and it is taking 30% off tickets while the work goes on, applied automatically when you book. It gives no reopening date.

The priory is on Pier Road, Tynemouth, NE30 4BZ, and the site’s phone number is 0191 257 1090. Front Street in Tynemouth had free on-street parking on December weekends last year, with a two-hour limit, and the council listed its Priors Haven car park as free; our Christmas travel page has the details. What is still to be confirmed
- Christmas events at the priory. English Heritage lists events on a separate page that we could not read; we will check again in late October.
- When the Choir, Chapel and Presbytery reopen, and so when the 30% discount ends.
- Opening from mid-March 2027, when the summer calendar is added.
